they are handcuffed together, so they could let go of their hands because the cuffs will still link them-BUT NOTICE-John is holding on to Sherlock’s sleeve with his fingers almost as if he simply needs little bit of Sherlock to be close no matter what danger they are in, no matter where they are.-Almost as if he knows that his time with Sherlock is counted.

I hate to ruin your (b)romance here but isn’t that actually just because it hurts less this way? If they’d let go the cuffs would cut into the flesh, so it’s just more practical to hold onto Sherlock’s sleeve. I was actually sad about this scene. If John really wanted to hold on to Sherlock he would’ve kept his hand but in fact he minimized the touch as much as possible.

Okay, I read this, scrolled down, than came back.

And then I decided I had to give my two cents about it

The thing about this scene it’s not if realistic it would heart more or less for John to let go of Sherlock. We have to remember we are watching a work of fiction here. The directors, actors and writers decide what to they want us to see.

REALISTIC, they wouldn’t be in the same hand cuffs. We had a thousand police officers all over Baker Street, you’re telling me they only had ONE hand cuff? You’re telling me it was absolutely necessary and realistic that they had to run hand in hand?

I guess what I’m trying to say here is that this whole context of the scene was a bit fucked up, in the sense that the writes went out of their ways to give us John and Sherlock walking hand to hand. To give us this desperate running-for-your-life scene where there’s just the two of then, partners in crime, depending so desperate on each other, moving together on the streets of London.

In any other movie, those characters would kiss each other before the lights went on. Remember Bad Boys? Any movie where the girl and the boy were hand cuffed to each other? It’s one of those cinema things that scream to us: ROMANCE, I will go further and say it’s a cliche. That little hand right there? unnecessary. Martin wasn’t really gonna to get hurt by the hand cuffs, Benedict could be a bit more closer to do this shot, we could not see the hands since it’s not that important to see the hands, it could be a totally different angle.

The show choose to show us John and Sherlock, breathing heavily, hanging on each other. What does it mean, then?
