I need to say this.

I’m tired of people saying “Get over the Chris Brown thing, it happened years ago” “move on.”

What you don’t understand is that more and more women are victims of domestic violence everyday. 

Fact:

• The Surgeon General of the United States reports that domestic violence causes more injury to adult women than cancers, heart attacks, or strokes.
• FBI statistics point out that a woman is battered every 15-18 seconds in the United States.
• More than three million children witness domestic violence, and more than four million women are battered to death by their husbands or boyfriends each year.
• Approximately one third of female murder victims in the United States are killed by their husband or boyfriend.

The people at the Grammy’s are rewarding a wife beater. The people at the Grammy’s are saying we don’t care that Chris Brown physically damaged/abused/beaten his girlfriend’s face causing her to go to the hospital, it’s cool, cause he still will win a Grammy. Forget the fact that Chris Brown have young male and female fans who admire him and they see this and they might think, it’s okay to hit women, cause I still will win a Grammy. 

Shame on you Grammy’s. 

And so, I will not get over it, I will not forgive Chris Brown. As a woman I feel like this needs to be address because it’s a damn shame how as a society, we allow the privileged ones to rewarded misogynistic assholes who physically abused women. No woman or man regardless of race, social class, sexual orientation, beliefs, etc should ever be a victim of domestic violence. End of story.
